Is your child struggling with a cough?

Here is my 5-year-old daughter’s recipe to make her better 🙂

This morning Maya woke up with quite a bothersome cough. We don’t usually take any medicine, but yesterday my mum looked after Maya and noticed the cough and bought some herbal syrup. Maya refused to take it, answering that she was healthy and the cough would go away by itself. My mum didn’t insist. However, this morning I thought I would give it a go. Here is our conversation:

Me: “Maya, I see you have a cough that bothers you. I have a syrup that could help you.”

Maya: “I don’t want this syrup! I can make my own honey and lemon syrup that will make me better. Come, Mummy, to the kitchen and I’ll show you.”

So we went there and here is what she asked for:

“A cup please, honey, lemon and raspberry tea.”

Then her favourite part: mixing it all so that it is nice and “fluffy.” Then she is ready to drink. She drank it all up and then made her point. (She tried to cough and then said, “You see, Mummy, no more cough. I told you.”)

She believed this syrup will help her and I am sure it will! What does your child believe will help them? Or what would you like them to believe?
